The main goal of Kim's research is to bridge the gap between biogeochemical models of surface water ecosystems and policies implemented to protect those systems. She is interested in the natural processes, human behaviors and decisions that affect the biogeochemistry of these systems. The main question she wants to ask is: How can we find an optimal balance between the protection of our country’s waterways and maintaining relatively low regulatory burden on industry and communities?
